The Greatest Gift

Physical healing is important to God. He gave the life of his Son to purchase it for us so we can receive it freely as his love gift. But our physical bodies are temporary. They only house us while we are on this earth. At the same time that Christ gave himself for our physical healing, he also gave himself for our eternal salvation. He even demonstrated his ability to forgive sins by physically healing people. The two are intrinsically linked.

It is God’s will that none should perish, but that all will receive the gift of eternal life (John 3:16). God is a loving, forgiving, patient God who is tenderly calling us to enter into his glorious presence and into a relationship with him by receiving his Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior. When we accept Christ, our sins are forgiven, and we are born again! We then begin a new life filled with the blessings of God (2 Corinthians 5:17).

There is a real difference between truly knowing God and only knowing about him. Do you know Christ as your savior? If not, you can be born again! Accepting Christ is the most important and wonderful decision you’ll ever make! If you accept his invitation to be saved, you will enter into a relationship with him, which will change the course of your life forever. Jesus is waiting with outstretched arms of love and forgiveness for you to accept his gift of salvation—the greatest gift!

If you have never asked Jesus into your life, you only need to pray a prayer with a sincere heart—a prayer something like this:

Dear Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and I need to be forgiven. I repent of my sin. I believe you shed your blood and died on a cross for me so that I can have eternal life with you in heaven and abundant life with you here on earth. I confess that you are Lord. Please come into my heart and life, and forgive me of my sins. I want to be born again and become your child. I want my life to be transformed. I accept you as my Savior and ask you to teach me how to make you Lord of my life. Please take my life and do something with it. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer with a sincere heart, you are now born again! You are forgiven of your sins and washed clean! God’s Word assures us that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:21), and if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Jesus died on the cross to save and cleanse us from sin. The blood of Jesus was shed for our salvation. The body of Jesus was broken for our healing. Psalm 103 says that the Lord forgives all our sin and heals all our diseases!

If you have not been attending a church, it is important to find a church that believes all the Word of God to be true and effective in our lives today—a church that sincerely and fervently worships God Almighty! God will guide you, and you will find strength from other born-again believers to encourage you and help you grow in the Lord.

It is vitally important that you read the Bible regularly so that you can grow in your relationship with the Lord. Pray every day! And pray that the Lord will place a hunger in your heart for his Word. His Word will give you strength, guidance, and encouragement. There are treasures in God’s Word waiting to be found!

My prayer for you as a new believer is based on Scripture verses from Colossians 1 and Ephesians 1:

I pray that God will strengthen you with his own great power as you give your life totally to him and that your life will produce good works of every kind. I pray that you will have the wisdom and understanding in spiritual things that you need, that you will grow in the knowledge of God, which will help you live in a way that brings honor to the Lord and pleases him and results in blessings in your life. I pray that you will look to the Lord to guide you and protect you and when troubles may come, that you will be patient and not give up but draw your strength and hope from him. I pray that you will grow in your relationship with the Lord as you put your trust and faith in him daily. I pray that God’s abundant blessings will be upon your life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
